30 for 30 Winter Edition

So I'm doing this again...I am a little intimidated this time.  I have picked less solid options.  I already have a feeling some things maybe getting swapped out.  Off to the races! Can't wait to see my fellow re-mixers choices this time around.

Will you challenge yourself?  Will you play it safe?  Are you a new comer to the challenge?

Sooooo..... yeah.... I'm laid up

He even made me breakfast!

Sooooo..... yeah.... I'm laid up.  You guys will find out, I am a klutz... I fall, walk into walls, trip up steps.. all that.  This time what did I do?  Well, the Hubby just bough Kinect for his Xbox.  I have really been loving it.  Only problem, I didn't think to wear my ankle brace.  See, I have weak ankles.  I have had severe sprains on both of my ankles, therefore making them VERY weak.  Well, I was trying to beat Hubby (which wasn't exactly happening) and I got a little too into the game and sprained my ankle so bad that it cracked and became swollen immediately.  Needless to say I am on a strict Ice, Motrin, puppy watching me closely cause mommy wont play, hubby waiting on me hand and foot, healing regimen.  If I am up to it I will pick my 30 for 30 items and take some pics in our pretty early spring in Georgia weather.

70's Inspired

Hey guys! Late night over here today.  Here is what I wore today. I feel like I should be an extra on That 70's Show.  I love these shoes by the way... I got them at a cool store called The Junkman's Daughter.  If you are ever in the Atlanta area you must shop the area called Little 5 Points!  There are tons of cool, trendy, vintage everything else... shops there.  Good food too!

Should I go for another round of Kendi's 30 for 30 challenge?

In time-out for not following instructions

Well, it's a rainy Tuesday in Atlanta.  It's ok... Spring is coming! I can feel it in my bones.  I may be a little bit ahead of myself but I don't care!  They sun is setting later, rising earlier, birds are chirping and the air is crisper.  All good things!

So I was so excited about Every Body Every Wear but then I realized I didn't pay ANY attention to the "Breton" part... I just saw stripes... oh well, I will try again next time to follow instructions.  I was never very good at that, I usually just find my own way to do just about everything.  For those that did follow instructions you can find them at Every Body Every Wear... I will be here in time-out for not listening.  I will do better next time!

Seeing Spots

Shirt-Casual Corner (Thrifted) Skirt-Vintage (Thrifted) Shoes- Steve Madden (DSW) Necklace- (Thrifted)

Happy Monday everyone!  I have to say for a Monday this day hasn't been so bad... maybe it's the hot pink making me cheery or maybe cause I am seeing spots with these leopard shoes.  Apparently today was unofficially leopard day at work today.  My boss is wearing a leopard top and her boss is wearing shoes just like mine except they are flats!  Basically.. it's been a good day.

Strips tomorrow at www.everybodyeverywear.com!

Tips and Tricks

Dress:M-I-L swap Blazer: Thrifted (Target) Shoes:  (TJ Maxx)

So this skirt is my mother-in-law's.  She gave it to the hubby to give to GoodWill when he dropped out things off.  If you take you must give!  I thought I would take a look and see if I wanted any of the things in the bag.  Well at first I didnt think there was anything in there for me until I pulled this skirt out.  I first thought, I will just hem it! So I thew it in the keep pile.  It stayed in my closet for a while because well... I haven't had time to hem it.  Then I got this bright idea!  This didn't quite make it to the thrift, but all the same...One of the comments from Linda yesterday said she needed thrifting lessons.  Well Linda ask and you shall receive.  My mom is a MASTER THRIFTER!  Therefore, I have learned from the best.  When I thrift I often look at some unlikely pieces and find new ways to wear them.  Cut off the sleeves, shorten it... so...

Tip #1 don't pass things up right away.  If you like the print or something about the item, hold on to it while you continue shopping think about what you can do to make you like it.  And at worst your out $5 or $6 bucks for what could have been something really great!

When Black and White isn't Enough add a Green Flower!

Hubby said I wasn't smiling so he got this lovely face

Skirt-WD.NY(thrifted) Shirt-Jones New York (thrifted) Shoes-Nine West (thrifted)
I really like this outfit... I think its a little unexpected but its fun and entirely thrifted!  Plus, I am so cool I can pop my collar!  A dear girlfriend of mine is oh so FAB and she pops her collar all the time and she always comes up behind me and pops mine up and tells me "wear it like this!"  I took her advice today and I love it.  Just call me a rule breaker!

Stripes and Flowers

Okay,  This second picture looks like I just got off a horse but.... I didn't.  Sorry to disappoint.  Today has been very busy and I am off to get a hair cut.  We will talk more tomorrow.  Ok see ya!

7 Facts

        7 Facts

1. I am fluent in American Sign Language. Hence the picture..

2. My hubby claims he realized he liked me after baking him my
Peanut Butter cookies... That's right the old adage is real... The way to a mans heart truly is through his stomach.

3. when my hair was long I used to fear getting my hair trimmed for fear they would cut it too short... So much for that logic...

4. I am starting to develop Freckles.  I don't wear them as well as my mother does... Thanks mom!

Dad and Mom
5.  I have a severe case of being a Daddy's Girl...

I promise I was happy on my wedding day!

6. I know A LOT of useless facts... It's strange.  I am the best partner to have in games like battle of the sexes or something that requires you to know odd things.

7. I can fall asleep anytime, anywhere.  We are getting in checked out but I have always been this way.  My mom has an entire album just of me sleeping... AN ENTIRE ALBUM.

The Ice has Thawed!

Blazer-Thrifted, Pants-Banana Republic Outlet, Scarf-Gifted

Shoes- Joey O (DSW)

Well, the ice has finally thawed and we have ventured outdoors.  Which also means I have actually dressed and left the home.  I went into work today for the first time in a week.  I was greeted by 230 emails.  No need to go back and read that... yes 230 emails!  It will take some time to catch up but I am happy my company did not ask us to venture out in the dangerous conditions.  We will see how the rest of the week goes.

Tomorrow morning I will share 7 facts about me.  I was tagged by the adorable fashionista Monkeyface to share some facts with you.  Say Hello, MonkeyFace!

Snow Day 5

Well, as you can see we are still snowed in.  Some of the city is out an about but I am not.  Which also means I still have not put on any clothes that the public enjoys looking at.  However I would like to tell you about Smashion "A social fashion site that features a free marketplace connecting people with a passion for fashion. Express your style, connect with others, and have fun buying and selling without paying a fee!"! They interviewed me.  I have one minor correction to make as I misspoke.  I said my favorite jeans were Calvin Kleins...They are DKNY.  Sorry about that.  Anywho... Take a look!

State of Emergency

Snow in Georgia! AGAIN! I can't even believe the horrible winter
we are having.  Last night around 8 it started with hail then snow and then it started sleeting over the snow.  Needless to say, without even one flurry in the sky the entire city of Atlanta went into sheer panic.  Saturday afternoon grocery stores sold out of every loaf of bread, gallon of milk, and pack of water they had. I saw people with grocery carts over flowing and some even had two carts!  I am still not sure what they thought would happen but, to each his own.  By noon on Sunday schools were closing.  I may have behaved like some of those school kids when I found out my office would be closing.  This morning I rose and made breakfast for the hubby.  I made Apple Muffins; normally I make them with banana's but we didn't have any.  My mom found the recipe here at All Recipes.  Try it out!

Crumb Muffins

  • Ingredients

    1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 bananas apples, mashed
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1/3 cup butter, melted
  • 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Lightly grease 10 muffin cups, or line with muffin papers.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together 1 1/2 cups flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. In another bowl, beat together bananas apple, sugar, egg and melted butter. Stir the banana apple mixture into the flour mixture just until moistened. Spoon batter into prepared muffin cups.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar, 2 tablespoons flour and cinnamon. Cut in 1 tablespoon butter until mixture resembles coarse cornmeal. Sprinkle topping over muffins.
  4. Bake in preheated oven for 18 to 20 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into center of a muffin comes out clean.

Is any southern breakfast complete without grits?  Yep, we didn't think so either!
